Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 30, 2026

1. Introduction

Serp ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our iOS application. Unlike most apps, we take privacy seriously by design.

TL;DR: We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any external servers. Everything stays on your device.

2. Data Collection and Storage

2.1 What We DON'T Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • Account credentials or passwords
  • Device identifiers for tracking
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • Location data
  • Any data to third-party servers

2.2 What We Store Locally

All data generated by the application is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData technology and UserDefaults:

  • Keywords: Search terms you want to track
  • Project Settings: Your domain names, regions, and preferences
  • Rank History: Historical ranking data and snapshots
  • Competitor Data: Discovered competitor websites and their rankings
  • App Preferences: Theme settings and notification preferences

If you delete the app, all this data is permanently deleted from your device.

3. External Services & Network Requests

3.1 Search Engine Requests

The application performs network requests directly from your device to:

  • Google Search: To fetch search engine result pages (SERPs) for the keywords you provide. These requests are subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • Competitor Websites: To fetch favicons or metadata when displaying competitor information.

Important: We do not act as a proxy or middleman for these requests. Your device connects directly to Google and other websites, meaning we never see your search queries or results.

3.2 Firebase Analytics (Optional)

We use Firebase Analytics to understand basic app usage patterns, such as:

  • Which features are most used
  • App crashes and errors (via Crashlytics)
  • General usage statistics (number of scans, projects created)

This data is anonymized and aggregated. You can opt out of analytics tracking through your device settings.

3.3 Advertising (AdMob)

We display interstitial ads powered by Google AdMob. These ads may:

  • Request your advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized ads
  • Collect usage data as per Google's privacy policy

You will be prompted to allow or deny ad tracking per Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking.

4. Third-Party Services

Serp integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): For analytics and crash reporting
  • AdMob (Google): For displaying advertisements

These services have their own privacy policies:

5. Children's Privacy

Serp is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Data Security

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, your data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). We recommend:

  • Keep your device locked with a strong passcode
  • Enable device encryption (enabled by default on modern iOS devices)
  • Regularly update iOS to the latest version

7. Your Rights

Since we don't collect or store your data on our servers, you have complete control:

  • Access: All your data is accessible within the app at all times
  • Export: You can export rank history to CSV format
  • Delete: Simply delete items within the app or uninstall the app to remove all data
  • Opt-Out: Disable analytics and ad tracking through iOS Settings

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Bottom Line: Serp is designed to respect your privacy. Your keyword data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it. We believe in transparency and giving you full control over your data.
